For healthcare organisations and innovation teams

Structured support between appointments.

Gutward helps people follow the dietary and self-management steps agreed with their qualified professional, and creates a clearer record for future conversations with that professional.

Who this is for

This page is for healthcare organisations, NHS innovation teams, clinicians exploring potential service pilots, Health Innovation Networks and other relevant healthcare organisations — not the main route most people use Gutward for. If you're an individual practitioner wanting to use Gutward with your own clients, see Gutward for professionals instead.

How Gutward fits between appointments

Step 1

An agreed pathway

A person follows a protocol or self-management approach agreed with their own qualified professional. Gutward doesn't prescribe, select or alter that pathway.

Step 2

Everyday actions and logging

The individual records meals, symptoms, bowel patterns and weight as they happen, rather than reconstructing them from memory later.

Step 3

Food trials and observations

Staged reintroductions and other trials are recorded by the individual with the outcomes they observed, building a factual history rather than a guess.

Step 4

A developing personal food picture

Foods are organised as tolerated, not tolerated, monitoring or untried, kept up to date as new information comes in.

Step 5

Recipes, planning and shopping

Day-to-day practicalities — recipes, meal planning and shopping lists — sit alongside the tracking, so the record reflects a life, not just data points.

Step 6

Clearer information for the next appointment

What the individual has recorded is organised and can be reviewed ahead of a consultation, reducing how much time goes on reconstructing events. Gutward does not currently produce automated reports or summaries.

Step 7

Professional interpretation stays with the professional

Gutward organises what a person records and does not present correlation as causation. Interpreting it, making clinical decisions and giving advice remain entirely with the qualified professional involved.

What Gutward is — and isn't

Gutward organises what a person chooses to record. It does not replace a qualified professional's judgement, and interpretation and clinical decisions stay with that professional.

  • Gutward is not NHS-approved, and current discussions or exploratory work — including with NHS teams, Health Innovation Networks or other healthcare organisations — do not imply NHS endorsement, procurement, integration or clinical validation.
  • Gutward is not a diagnostic or prescriptive tool, remote-patient-monitoring system, clinical-decision-support system or replacement clinical record.
  • Claims about reducing admissions, procedures, deterioration, workload or cost would require appropriate evaluation; Gutward does not currently make those claims.
