Currently improving
These areas work today, and are the parts of the beta we're most actively refining.
Food and ingredient database breadth
We're steadily widening product and ingredient coverage. Less common and non-UK products are the areas growing fastest right now.
Barcode and ingredient recognition
Recognition accuracy keeps improving as we review more products — most scans already return a clear, useful result.
Unknown and ambiguous ingredient handling
When a product isn't found, or its ingredient or allergen data is incomplete, Gutward says so plainly rather than guessing — we're refining how clearly that's communicated.
Recipe creation, importing and usability
Manual recipes and AI photo import both work today. We're smoothing out the day-to-day experience of building, editing and reusing recipes.
Gutward's scanner compares the product data available to it against the protocol you're following and your own personal food statuses. Product and ingredient coverage is still expanding, so some products — especially less common or non-UK ones — won't be found or won't have complete ingredient data yet. The scanner cannot confirm that a product is safe for you: manufacturer packaging always remains the authoritative source for ingredients and allergens, and Gutward never diagnoses an allergy, intolerance or reaction.
You can create recipes manually on Free, and import a recipe from a photo on Gutward+ — both are real, working features, still being refined as more people use them. The Gutward AIP cookbook is a planned collection of ready-made recipes; it doesn't exist in the product yet, on Free or Gutward+.
